Heart Health – Why Exercise is Essential for a Healthy Heart

Your heart is the most important muscle in the body. Exercise is Essential for
a Healthy Heart. In order to stay healthy, it needs to be worked out just like the rest of your muscles. The current recommendation for adults is 3 to 5 days a week of aerobic activity, for a minimum of 30 minutes each session to stay healthy.

Aerobic activity can be defined as anything that raises your heart rate and causes you to feel
breathless but not gasping for air. To calculate your Target Heart rate range you need to do a
little math.
220 – Age = Max Heart Rate (HR)
Max HR x .70 = (The answer to these two equations is your Target HR range)
Max HR x .80 =

For example a 50 year old would have a target Heart Rate of 220 – 50 = 170 Max HR
170 x .70 = 119 170 x .80 = 136 So her Target Heart Rate range would be 119 – 136 beats/
